The Lost & Foundry Collection
A Line Form Color collaboration with Fontsmith, and partnered with the House of St Barnabas, a social enterprise and members club in Soho, London, whose aim is to lift people out of homelessness and back into permanent employment. We photographed signage in and around Soho, then after a period of editing the selection, we painstakingly produced 7 bespoke display fonts, re-imaging the entire alphabet sets, sometimes from just a few remaining original characters. The fonts are being sold via fontsmith online, and 100% of proceeds are donated to HOSB to help their good work.
At our launch exhibition, we invited 7 designers to each work with a font. Artworks using the fonts were contributed by Anthony Burrill, Morag Myerscroft, SMiLE Street Art, I Love Dust, Supermundane, Steve Wilson, and Dangerous Minds Artists. All the work was auctioned on the night. A selection of artwork shown here are launch assets, postcards and a magazine, social assets and the exhibition artworks. Industry press coverage includes, Creative Review, It's Nice That, Creative Boom, Drum Magazine and The Disciples of Design.
It's exciting to see these reclaimed typefaces finally fit for a bright optimistic future, the more people use them and spread the word, the more we can help HOSB. We are so proud of this project.
“I have always believed that we all deserve good design in our lives and good design makes our lives better. Working with LINE FORM COLOR on Lost and Foundry has been a great experience for myself personally and our organisation, the finished project gives me joy each time I see it being used. I think with this project we have created a snapshot of history and we will be looking back in generations to come at not only an innovative fundraising idea brought to life but how creatives are being shown for the force they are in service to social change.” SANDRA SCHEMBRI - CEO HOUSE OF ST BARNABAS
